Original Bill

A proposed bill that contains a text sanctioned in a committee markup but not officially presented before the markup. Senate committees are permitted to convey original bills within their jurisdictions alongside reporting measures that have been introduced and assigned to them; some House committees also possess the authority to initiate certain measures.
