Petition
A panel of individuals selected from the general public, tasked with attending court hearings to receive and evaluate the proof, testimony, and arguments presented by the plaintiff (or prosecution) and the defendant. Their primary function is to deliberate upon this information and reach a verdict by determining the truth of the factual matters contested by the parties. Within the federal judicial system, juries empaneled for criminal cases are typically comprised of twelve members. For federal civil cases, the composition of the jury is a minimum of six members.
